My legs are back!

That's right! :) Thank goodness. After a month of not really focusing on the bike, my legs feel light as a feather and strong. The heavy rotten meat stick legs are gone and I have a brand new set. That's what a long rest does and I guess my weekend of mountain biking got my legs rockin! I went on a high intensity 50 minute trail run this morning followed by a 2.5 hour mountain bike ride this afternoon. I figured my legs would feel like poo after shredding them on the trails in the morning, but they felt pretty zippy. Tomorrow I'm going to hit the singletrack in Nederland once again to enjoy the electric aspens and tacky trails. Can't wait!

On another note, I am having terrible luck standing in line. For the past several days in a row, every time I stand in line, I'm stuck behind that guy with 50 million items and the newbie cashier. Examples. Saturday I was trying to buy an electrolyte drink at the Nederland Co-op. I waited TEN minutes. The cashier had to do a price check on several of the items, and there were many. If I hadn't already opened the drink and chugged most of it, I would have just left. Another example-- driving up the canyon on Sunday... it's a two lane road with no passing. I got stuck behind a train of cars going 35 where I normally go 55. all...the way... down. Today at the post office-- everyone in front of the guy who was in front me had one quick item. And what does the guy in front of me have? 10 envelopes, all which need individual postage. I was also in my bike clothes in a terrible rush to get out on my ride. So if you're being "that guy," please take a look and see who is behind you and have some consideration if they have one quick item and you have a basket full of stuff that will take forever.

And yes, if you didn't guess, I am impatient. I guess these are lessons of patience for me.

Accoustic

His lips don't match the words, but this is a song I'm working on right now. I'm trying to muster some courage and some skill to do open mic night at Conor Oneills this winter!!

Lots going on

Sorry it's been so long since you've heard from me! Lots going on, but little to talk about. I have been enjoying the fall weather and the changing of the aspens. After a one month hiatus of regular riding (other than commuting), I am doing a build phase on the bike to get me to the winter months. This winter is supposed to be WORSE than last winter according to the Farmer's Almanac. I can't imagine a worse winter, but hopefully the last one broke me in a bit. Guess I need snow tires so I can train...or just get used to sitting on the trainer. ugh. Anyway, I'm going to push my body pretty hard for about a month and then get ready to do some base in december. yaaay. I'm rejuvenated from my post-race season burn-out and am excited to race again. Maybe if I can get my hands on a cross bike for super cheap or to borrow, I'll get out there...or maybe I'll just get shelled in the race riding my hardtail. :)

Here are some photos from beautiful Colorado last week. It has been magical here.

Sunset the other day...view from my back gate.

Happy Bday to my beautiful friend Anne this weekend. Brian and I went out to dinner too and I felt like dressing up. :) I got a lot of compliments on this dress, guess I should wear it more...

These pics are from mtb ride 1 this weekend (Saturday) in Nederland. I went back on Sunday, but didn't bring my camera.

How's your ASpen? ;) hahahaha

A real post!

Ok, okay...I know I can't appease you with photos forever (haha, or maybe I can?!). I decided I am ready for an off-season. For the past 4 years I have been racing bikes, I have always raced collegiate or cross, and taken it seriously. Finally I need a break. I'm loving doing my other sports that I miss so much during the spring/summer. It's also wonderful to be able to drink a couple beers and not worry about the consequences on my sleep, training, or performance.

So other than not riding my bike, this is what I've been up to:

Trail running! Yaaay, time for new trail shoes too. I'm looking for a half marathon to run next month. I used to race(running) and I'm missing it. I wouldn't do it for a good time, just for the hell of it.

Partying on the weekend and enjoying drinks with my dinner. Yeah! You got. I can't wait till beer:30 today. Good times.

Sunflower Solar: I love this place! The people are so fun and the work lets me use my creative side (Sketch-up).

TA-ing Circuits 2. It's still intimidating, but I feel better about the whole thing. I have a class of 11 or 12 undergraduate boys. Nothing I can't handle. ;) It's a good review, but man, it feels like eons ago that I took it. Karni, UNM, 5 years ago. Did that actually happen?

School: My leadership and management class is actually quite valuable. I was snickering about it when signing up, but it will actually be one of the most useful classes I will take. I was signed up for Abnormal Psych ( a pre-rq for PA school) but I had to drop it. It was total B.S. If you are in the "grad school," you get charged grad prices for all classes, even undergrad ones. Pay 1500 for undergrad psych, I think not!

Personal Training; yeah...dragging my feet on the cert. IT's a lot of studying, but I'll get there. :) I am still going for it.

Still pretty busy, but damn happy. :)

More Hawaii pics

My parents came up to visit this weekend and we had a GREAT time!! Too bad it was such a quick trip. I need to go home soon. Anyways, here are some more pics from Hawaii from my dad's camera. I have a couple more batches coming, but there will be less and less each time.

Ok...so here are drunken Sonya pics. Apparently there are a lot of them.

and more random shots that aren't grouped.
